The European Union has completed a series of study excursions to the regions of Atlanta for representatives connected with local governance, enterprise and civil society.

The study tour to Borjomi on 18-19 February 2017 used the earlier tours in order to Lagodekhi and Kazbegi and directed to share experience of the regional Action Groups (LAGs) realistically work to engage local occupants in rural progression.

The Borjomi study tour needed over 40 players from different areas of Georgia and appeared to be attended by the Governing administration officials, including: Nodar Kereselidze, First Deputy Minister of Farming; Irakli Matkava, First Deputy Minister associated with Regional Development and also Infrastructure; Nino Javakhadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Eco friendly Development; and Tamaz Marsagishvili, Deputy Reverend of Education as well as Science.

In the design of the European Union’verts Neighbourhood Programme intended for Agriculture and Countryside Development (ENPARD), the study visit was organized by the United Nations Development Process (UNDP) and the Ministry of Farming of Georgia, in cooperation with the Civil Development Agency (CiDA) as well as international non-governmental organization Mercy Corps.?

In Borjomi, the study tour competitors met with the community authorities and Local Steps Group members plus visited the sites of small initiatives loaned by the European Union in 2016 to promote rural increase the region. This provided the tourism development projects in Bakuriani as well as forest restoration within Tsagveri.

The Borjomi Local Development Collection was established inside November 2016 with the help of the European Union and in collaboration with Mercy Corps, Angus Local authority or council and Bundesanstalt fr Bergbauernfragen.? The Local Measures Groups (LAG) within Borjomi, Lagodekhi and Kazbegi are the first on the pilot LAGs across Atlanta.? The European Union will continue supporting the establishment on the Local Actions Communities this year in the municipalities of Dedoplistkaro, Akhalkalaki, Tetritskaro, Keda and Khulo.

The help to the Local Actions Categories (LAGs) is in line while using the Rural Development Means of Georgia adopted with the Government of Georgia in December 2016.
